Josh came home from work early one afternoon. He set a pet cage on the floor next to Woollybear.
Woollybear fearfully looked inside the cage. Two little eyes stared back at him. He was so startled, he hissed.
“Woollybear, it’s okay! I brought you a friend,” Josh said. “Her name is Katie. She is lonely too.”
“Hi,” Katie said softly.
“Hi,” Woollybear replied, smiling. “How old are you?”
“I am one year old. How old are you?” she asked. “Is this a good place to live?”
“I am four years old,” Woollybear replied. “My humans are nice. They give me my favorite foods. I get warm milk for breakfast, and have lots of toys. Since you are going to live here, they are your humans too!”
Of course, Josh and Beth only heard their excited meows.
Josh bent down and opened the cage door.
Katie stepped out next to Woollybear. He noticed she was smaller than him, with beautiful gray and white fur.
“Oh, Josh, she is so cute,” Beth said as she knelt down to pet her.
“What kind of cat are you?” Woollybear asked Katie.
“I am Persian. I need to be brushed everyday. Do you think our humans will brush me?”
“You don’t have to worry,” he told her. “Beth brushes me every day. Would you like to see the rest of the house?”
“Oh, thank you Woollybear. Will the humans give me warm milk?” Katie asked shyly.
“I am sure they will,” he grinned. “I will show you how to ask them for it.”
From that day on, Woollybear and Katie were best friends. They did not need to feel lonely anymore.

About the Book
Woollybear is a special cat, with long beautiful fur. He is just a kitten when his previous owners drop him off at the house of Josh and Beth. Feeling abandoned makes Woollybear sad and lonely. His new ‘humans’ fail to cheer him up, even though they spend lots of time with him, brush his fur, buy him toys, and feed him well. One day, Josh brings home a special surprise for Woollybear---a Persian cat named Katie. Woollybear and Katie become fast friends and enjoy many adventures together. They move with their ‘humans’ to a new home, discover new friends in their new yard, help a lost cat, and visit the family veterinarian. Now that Woollybear and Katie have each other to depend on, who knows what fun and exciting adventures await the best friends!
About the Author
Karen Rosenkilde was born in the Midwest and grew up in the great plains of Kansas. After a lifetime of travel, she relocated to Sun City, Arizona, in 2010 to be near her parents. A mother and grandmother, she is an amateur photographer who enjoys singing and playing the piano. This is her first book.
Woollybear and Katie, the main characters in Woollybear’s Adventures, were adopted as adult cats. They are two of several felines Karen has loved and cared for during her lifetime. She strongly advocates adult pet adoption and rescue.
