With the blankets pulled over her head, I can barely hear her murmur a word. Everything she was saying sounded muffled. He's coming, He's coming! she explained. I was just as scared as she was, but I knew I had to be strong for her. My body was intense and I was more afraid for her than myself. I threw my covers off and walked over to her bed, which was right across from mines. She was so frantic I had to calm her down. I then said pee on yourself she looked stunned, just do it! I said in a firm voice. He wont touch you, he will just come to me. She done just as I had said and pretended as if she was sleep. I knew she wasn't and although the molestation wasn't happening to her, she was living through mines and I knew she was crying on the inside. Helplessly lying their while your sister is being molested and unable to do anything, It had to be heart wretching. From that moment forward it was a tactic we would use all the time. I didn't care about myself and being molested was the least of my worries, I had to find a way to get my little sister out of that house. I become used to it. I would close my eyes and vision I was in another place, like Heaven. I would always go back to what the preacher was saying on one particular Sunday" In my fathers house are many mansion's and how the street were carved in gold, and most importantly I would think of how he said in Heaven there was no pain. How we would be able to see God and Jesus, I wanted to see them both. I would day dream of what that day would be like. I wanted to see them both really bad, sometimes when people hurt me and I couldn't deal with the pain, I would imagine that God was sitting next to me, I would then imagine that he was holding me, coddling me like a baby in his arms. Where I found comfort and felt safe. Somehow that just made me feel much better, no one would ever understand it and thats the reason I never told anyone but my sister. She would understand and I knew she would because we had went and were going through the same hell. All we could do was embrace each other pain.

About the Book
Award of the State clearly tell's a story of a young girl who was abadoned by her mother and was sent to live in foster care. living without guidance and mentorship lead her to making wrong decisions later in life. Being in foster care, this younng lady talks of how getting molested and raped was the least of her worries, she knew she had to protect her younger sister. One of the wrong decisions was having to go to prison where she encounters many women who shared the same similarities as she did. There in Prison, lost and confused she allows God to break her down and mold her into his image, which she was not prepared for. She began writing while she was in prison. After coming home from prison she trys to put her past behind her, only being reminded by her wrong doings on a daily basics. She continues to fight with herself on who she is, how to love herself and how to accept the past for what it was and how to forgive those who have hurt her. It wasnt easy but she refuses to let those who ridiculed her have the victory. This book is very inspiring and talks about how the Author uses her own real life events to help other who are or may have went through similar situations.
About the Author
Pure, a woman who is being used by God to share her stories about the life she and her sisters endured growing up in foster care, followed by the wrong choices, and paths she took as an adult, Pure never knew her father, and the man that was said to be her father, never recognized her as his child. Pure never let anything stop her from persuing on becoming a writer, she knew since she was a small child that should would write, Pure was better at putting words down on paper than actually speaking how she felt. All her life, Pure was always told that she wasn't smart enough or she was never going to amount to much in life. Pure continued to strive, despite of what was being said. Her teacher latched on to her and gave her love that she never had felt before, with their help Pure continued reach her goals she finshed school, went to college and now an aspiring Author and writer. Pure is a very humble young lady and one of her favorite bible scriptures is" If God is for me, who shall be against me. Pure is invited to many Women conferences where she is asked to speak with ladies about her own suffering and overcoming the obstacles she faced as a kid, young lady and now adult. Also Pure reaches out to the Safe Heavens, Women battered shelters, Where she spends lots of time speaking to the ladies about how she had to fight her way out of an abusive relationship, where she mistaken abuse for love, how she knew that it wasn't a great environment for her children, she talks about the times she tried to commit suicide. Pure wants to be all that God has planned for her to be. Pure says she will be that Voice for the voiceless.
