The Fall
Genesis Chapter 3
1 Now the serpent was more subtil (wise/cunning) than any beast of the field, which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” (KJV).
The serpent already twisted the words around. He was there listening to the commandment of God through the whole ordeal. God said that both Adam and Eve can eat of all the trees in the garden except for the tree of knowledge of good and evil. In Genesis 3:1 the serpent was really saying, “Didn’t God say that you cannot eat of every tree of the garden? But you can eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of thetrees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die” (KJV).
Adam and Eve could not touch the fruit. They did not have to consume the fruit in order to die. God placed both the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the midst of the garden with surrounding trees and said that all of the fruits of the trees can be eaten except the forbidden one in the midst in which I assume was more appealing than the other trees. Even though the tree of life was among all the trees that can be eaten one may think “why did God actually place the tree of life in the middle of the garden with the forbidden tree making them both stand out from the others and not tell them that one is to live forever?” The tree of the knowledge of good and evil could have set by itself making it obviously separated.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, “Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil”(KJV). God did not want them to know good and evil that is why they were not to eat of it. He did not want them to pick up other spirits in their life. The serpent knew that Eve would die the spiritual death at that very moment, but knew eventually they would die the physical death by saying, “Ye shall not surely die” not yet, but by and by.” Only God and the serpent understood what was going to happen. The serpent was crafty and knew what he was saying. I hear many people say that the Devil (meaning Satan) is really stupid. He actually is not. God made him very intelligent full of wisdom and he is a god, but not like the Father God. That is why it hurts the Father to see us fall into temptation because he knows that Satan is very deceitful. Adam and Eve were perfect from the beginning. No sin did they commit. They only knew what was right. They had God’s spirit within them. God breathe the breath of life into them and they became a living soul. The breath that God breathe into Adam was the same breath that was shared with Eve. They both became one flesh. The serpent (the Devil/Satan) wanted to corrupt them because he knew that if they disobeyed God they will be lost. The serpent knew that if the demonic spirits (gods) enter their bodies they will continue to war with the flesh.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof and did eat and gave also unto her husband with her and he did eat (KJV).
7 And the eyes of them both were opened and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons (KJV).
One of the myth of these two verses is that many people believe that Eve shared an intimate relationship with her husband and the serpent. Another myth is that the serpent turned himself into a man and Eve mated with him. This was not a fruit of desire as some people believe. Verse 6 states that the woman saw the tree (not the serpent or another man) that the tree was good for food and the food was pleasant to the eyes, also the tree desired to make one wise. She took of the fruit and did eat and gave to her husband. After they ate their eyes were opened (as one to make wise) and they knew now that they were naked Genesis 3:7. God does not contradict his words. God was the one that said that Adam and Eve could eat the fruits of the tree not the serpent. The serpent only repeated what God said, but only twisted the words. The serpent did not say, “Come lie with me” as some people believe.
22 And the Lord God said, “Behold the man is become as one of us to know good and evil: and now lest he put forth his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat and live forever (KJV).
Now since Adam and Eve are made wise they could have lived forever, but they did not choose the tree of life. Before the sin they both were going to live forever knowing only good if they had chose the right tree to eat from. Now that they both knew good and evil they lost their privilege to live forever. The serpent took Eve’s focus off of the tree of life because they both did eat. Genesis Chapter 4
1 And Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived and bare Cain and said, “I have gotten a man from the Lord”(KJV).
2 And she again bare his brother Abel and Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground (KJV).
25 And Adam knew his wife again and she bare a son and called his name Seth: For God said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel whom Cain slew (KJV).
These three verses clear up the misled scripture that Cain was born from the devil. Adam and Eve was not intimate with anyone other than themselves. Adam and Eve was driven out of the garden of Eden and neither did Eve become sexually active in the garden. Cain’s earthly mother and father were Adam and Eve. Eve states that God has given her Cain. We know that Abel and Seth was also the sons of Adam and Eve. Cain and Abel were not devil brothers. They were brothers from the bloodline of their parents. In verse 25 God also said that Seth was given to him in place of Abel. An evil spirit entered into Cain’s heart because of the fall made by his parents in the garden. These three verses claim that all the brothers were from the same parents. After Seth’s son was born men of the earth (male and female) turned to the Lord.
