About the Book

Look through the window, see into my soul. Everyone comes of age in different ways. Through the abandonment, abuse, neglect, uncertainty, longing, and finally realization; step into my world. From the depression that resulted from the abandonment of my birth parents, to my sister being kicked out of the house at the age of 13, the depression that soon followed. My insecurities are on full display with my first love, to my marriage at 21 and the birth of my son at 22. The confusion of falling for a friend and having the realization that I would forever be trapped. Watch the growth of my journey to now and seeing the world for the first time and finally finding the love of my life. My life, my soul told through poetry. See through my eyes and into my soul.

About the Author

Being adopted, spending time with my birth father was always a huge deal for me. At the age of ten, I found out that he wrote poetry and that is where I figured I would place all of my pent up energy. At the age of 10 I had my first poem published in an anthology. After that I entered a few competitions but never followed through, I just wanted real critiques. Throughout the years, from 10 to now (age 29) I wrote through the pain, happiness, and love. I wrote through the depression of feeling like I just did not belong, that I wasn’t pretty enough, skinny enough; not enough. I am finally in a place in my life where I would like to see my words help others growing up; give them a place to seek refuge and let them know that if they just hold on things will get better. Born in Newark, NJ, raised in Waldorf, MD. I am currently in the military, stationed at Fort Hood in Texas. I have a handsome, intelligent, energetic son and he is my motivation to be the best version of myself that I can be. My family has and will always be there for me. So many times, I wanted to give up, but I held on and it did get better.
