Mommy and daddy squirrel had wanted a child of their very own for a long time. They were very happy when their little blessing came as a baby boy squirrel. They named him “Squirrelly.” He was a very tiny fellow. His fur was kind of ragged. His tail was long and thin like a rat’s tail not bushy like all the other squirrels. Also, his eyes were small and squinty and he needed to wear glasses. His parents didn’t mind his appearance. They were ecstatic to have a child of their own. They loved him with all of their heart and unconditionally.

About the Author
Dana is a mentor, friend, uncle, brother, son, husband and father of two boys. He has coached both youth soccer and baseball and has been a mentor to many
children and young adults. He volunteers by reading to little children and looks forward to sharing this story with them.
The story of Squirrelly was birthed on a walk with his boys along Chicago’s lakefront where he and his sons would feed the squirrels. One day, Dana noticed
a haggard looking squirrel and wondered if squirrels have the same hang ups that humans do when it comes to appearance.
