About the Author
I was born in South Africa and enjoyed a happy childhood dreaming about anything and everything. I remember being able to fly, or was that a dream? I saved kittens from being drowned; I climbed trees and ran away from home on big adventures. All I can say, at the grand old age of 60, is that I have never really grown up. My eldest daughter Jessica calls me 'Paul Pan,' 'Mad Dad' and 'Dave' (it's a long story) and her younger sister Harriet calls me 'Dah' and those are all fine with me. My life has been a journey from one dream to another; becoming a pilot, racing power boats, working with children, running a hotel, an internet cafe, a sandwich bar, a tobacconist and newsagent's shop in London, a property developer, an insurance broker, an inventor and author and even an extra in a TV commercial (a long time ago!), but my greatest pleasure has been becoming a DaD to my two wonderful daughters Jessica and Harriet. I have spent so many happy hours telling them my stories and making up places and jokes and people and languages with them that I can truly say, I have been able to choose my own dream. I dedicate this book to Jessica and Harriet with all my love and with every possible hug and kiss that I own and breathe.
