"You promised you would return to me and here you are and this is no dream! ”The masked man extended his other hand in a friendly gesture.
Flabbergasted by his statement and his strangely familiar voice, she pressed her golden sword firmly against his chest and backed him up. His crazy remarks and the act he was putting on as if he knew her confounded her.
Angela’s suspicions rose more so when the man did not attempt to remove the red scarf covering his face.
Raise your hands and place them on the back of your head and I warn you, don’t try anything foolish, sir!” She spoke in a strong police tone, pushing her blade against his chest. Hat in hand, he obeyed her orders.
Angela placed her sword under his chin. Even in the fog, the blade of gold shone. She wore another golden sword sheathed on her left side. Never had he seen such magnificent weapons. He wondered why these travelers dressed as religious monks carried such precious weapons.
“My angel ... it is me, my love … Jeremiah . . . Jeremiah<
stone, and i surely would do you no harm, my lady.”
though flattered, it troubled her, this masked stranger speaking to her as if he knew her. his next statement floored her.
“my angel, we have met before! do you not remember?
you are my guardian angel. we fought side by side during the war against the confederates right here in the battle of mariah. you saved my life. you are my dream come true!"
being from the future, angela had no idea what he was talking about and decided it was time to see who the man with the familiar voice that hid behind the red scarf really was.
“then you should have no qualms about revealing yourself! hold steady, sir!” she warned. pressing her blade firmly against his chin with the tip of her sword, she slipped off the red scarf. uncovering his handsome dark face, angela gasped in amazement and covered her mouth with her sword hand.
"oh my god, i do know this man! she looked comical with her weapon in her hand, the sword point straight up in the air. she stood motionless in silent disbelief. however, it was his next statement that surprised them all.
“i have been waiting for your return to mariah. alas, you have come back as promised and this time in the flesh, not in my dreams! what kind of magic is this, or should i say, more appropriately, what miracle do i witness that you stand here before me, my angel?
angela wondered, can this truly be that guy? can it truly be him? his mention of a dream come true is exactly what he was to her! they’d met the week before she died, one hundred and fifty years into the future!
he’d appeared every night in her dreams that week! she fell in love with her fairy-tale dream man, to whom she gave the adorable nickname that guy, but how could it possibly be the same dream man from her future?” still dazed and astounded, angela backed away.
alarmed by angela’s strange reactions, the big hunk of a man immediately apologized. “i did not mean to startle or frighten you, my dear, but a big old grey owl back there flew right into maribel’s face and spooked her. i would never have been able to forgive myself had we harmed you or your baby! it’s a miracle that i did not! his utterly charming smile made her heart race and her knees weak. yet to utter a single word to the man of her dreams was impossible. she found herself staring, confused and speechless, mesmerized by that guy. stone,="" and="" i="" surely="" would="" do="" you="" no="" harm,="" my="" lady.”="" though="" flattered,="" it="" troubled="" her,="" this="" masked="" stranger="" speaking="" to="" her="" as="" if="" he="" knew="" her.="" his="" next="" statement="" floored="" her.="" “my="" angel,="" we="" have="" met="" before!="" do="" you="" not="" remember?="" you="" are="" my="" guardian="" angel.="" we="" fought="" side="" by="" side="" during="" the="" war="" against="" the="" confederates="" right="" here="" in="" the="" battle="" of="" mariah.="" you="" saved="" my="" life.="" you="" are="" my="" dream="" come="" true!"="" being="" from="" the="" future,="" angela="" had="" no="" idea="" what="" he="" was="" talking="" about="" and="" decided="" it="" was="" time="" to="" see="" who="" the="" man="" with="" the="" familiar="" voice="" that="" hid="" behind="" the="" red="" scarf="" really="" was.="" “then="" you="" should="" have="" no="" qualms="" about="" revealing="" yourself!="" hold="" steady,="" sir!”="" she="" warned.="" pressing="" her="" blade="" firmly="" against="" his="" chin="" with="" the="" tip="" of="" her="" sword,="" she="" slipped="" off="" the="" red="" scarf.="" uncovering="" his="" handsome="" dark="" face,="" angela="" gasped="" in="" amazement="" and="" covered="" her="" mouth="" with="" her="" sword="" hand.="" "oh="" my="" god,="" i="" do="" know="" this="" man!="" she="" looked="" comical="" with="" her="" weapon="" in="" her="" hand,="" the="" sword="" point="" straight="" up="" in="" the="" air.="" she="" stood="" motionless="" in="" silent="" disbelief.="" however,="" it="" was="" his="" next="" statement="" that="" surprised="" them="" all.="" “i="" have="" been="" waiting="" for="" your="" return="" to="" mariah.="" alas,="" you="" have="" come="" back="" as="" promised="" and="" this="" time="" in="" the="" flesh,="" not="" in="" my="" dreams!="" what="" kind="" of="" magic="" is="" this,="" or="" should="" i="" say,="" more="" appropriately,="" what="" miracle="" do="" i="" witness="" that="" you="" stand="" here="" before="" me,="" my="" angel?="" angela="" wondered,="" can="" this="" truly="" be="" that="" guy?="" can="" it="" truly="" be="" him?="" his="" mention="" of="" a="" dream="" come="" true="" is="" exactly="" what="" he="" was="" to="" her!="" they’d="" met="" the="" week="" before="" she="" died,="" one="" hundred="" and="" fifty="" years="" into="" the="" future!="" he’d="" appeared="" every="" night="" in="" her="" dreams="" that="" week!="" she="" fell="" in="" love="" with="" her="" fairy-tale="" dream="" man,="" to="" whom="" she="" gave="" the="" adorable="" nickname="" that="" guy,="" but="" how="" could="" it="" possibly="" be="" the="" same="" dream="" man="" from="" her="" future?”="" still="" dazed="" and="" astounded,="" angela="" backed="" away.="" alarmed="" by="" angela’s="" strange="" reactions,="" the="" big="" hunk="" of="" a="" man="" immediately="" apologized.="" “i="" did="" not="" mean="" to="" startle="" or="" frighten="" you,="" my="" dear,="" but="" a="" big="" old="" grey="" owl="" back="" there="" flew="" right="" into="" maribel’s="" face="" and="" spooked="" her.="" i="" would="" never="" have="" been="" able="" to="" forgive="" myself="" had="" we="" harmed="" you="" or="" your="" baby!="" it’s="" a="" miracle="" that="" i="" did="" not!="" his="" utterly="" charming="" smile="" made="" her="" heart="" race="" and="" her="" knees="" weak.="" yet="" to="" utter="" a="" single="" word="" to="" the="" man="" of="" her="" dreams="" was="" impossible.="" she="" found="" herself="" staring,="" confused="" and="" speechless,="" mesmerized="" by="" that="">
