About the Book
Six entertaining, engaging, and educational stories – “Cheeky Chair”, “Shaun’s Trip to Shiraz”, “Thimbu, The Three-Legged Creature And A Magic Thimble”, “Colonsay Island And A Long-Tailed Creature”, “The Bumble Bee Queen’s Palace On The Sea” and “After A New Phenomenon” – aim to help children learn the fifth group of sounds: Ch, Sh, th/ th, ay/ ai and ee/ ea.Each story focuses on one sound and provides many words as examples for it. The targeted sounds have been clearly highlighted using different colours to attract the child’s attention. This could increase the child’s later recall of that sound as well as developing the child’s understanding that one letter may sound different in different words. An example for this is how the letter th in the word they sounds different from th in the word thank. If you enjoy reading these stories and learning the sounds, the other books in this collection will be just as appealing!
About the Author
I originally came from Iran and have lived in UK since May 1998. I have two degrees, BA in English-Farsi translation course obtained from Iran and BSC (honours) in psychology obtained from UK Open University. At present, I work as teaching assistant and learning support with an education agency in different primary schools in London. A job that I absolutely love doing. My job has given me the honour to engage and interact with so many children and professional adults in the education system since 2009. As a result of this interaction with children's education, I noticed that when the teachers teach the phonics, they do not have proper interesting stories to read to the children in the classroom and be able to link to the sounds that they teach. This certainly gave me the idea to create this collection of seven volumes. Each Volume consists of five to seven engaging, interesting, and educational stories. Each story focuses on one sound and uses so many words to increase the children's vocabulary. Fortunately, I have had the honour to read the stories from the first and second volume (the ones which have already been published) to so many kids myself and the reaction I have received from them has been so encouraging and heartwarming!
