About the Book
This is the true story of a baby left on a doorstep in a pink and white carrier bag. Although it is only 579 words long, this picture book deals with just a few, but very dramatic life changing moments for John and Sarah Yorr. “The doorbell rang at exactly 10 past 10.” This simple event is to change the lives of John and Sarah Yorr forever. A surprise package has been left on the doorstep. It is a pink and white carrier bag and it moves. What can be inside? The book is designed to build on the drama of the situation making the reader experience anxiety, sadness and joy, and eager to turn over to the next page. This continues throughout the book with an ending that leaves the reader asking for more.
About the Author
I have lived with Parkinson’s disease for almost 20 years. This life-affecting condition has challenged my ability to function in every possible way, and changed me into a person that I no longer recognised. I lost confidence, dignity and I was spiraling downwards with little hope.
The transition from extreme involuntary movements to completely frozen took four seconds, which meant that I was unable to function.
On July 5th 2011 my life changed. I became one of the 15 people in the world who have had Prosavin injected into their brain and one of the 6 in the world who had the highest 5 times dosage. I have produced this book for family and friends as an illustration of how the ‘fog’ has cleared from my mind and my thoughts are now clear and focused, and to show that this little illustrated book tells more than one story.
