About the Book

On a cold, snowy January morning in 1900, Clara receives a very special birthday gift: a beautiful red woolen dress her mother has sewn for her second birthday. Papa takes her into the town of Crete, Nebraska, to have her photo taken in the red dress. When Clara’s daughter Jean turns two, out comes the little red dress. Twenty-one years later, her daughter Barby wears the little red dress, and the tradition continues with her daughter and granddaughters. Six little girls on their second birthday wearing the same dress over a period of 108 years. About the Author

Barbara McIntosh attended the University of Nebraska as well as Lincoln School of Commerce. She worked for the federal government for many years. Upon retiring, Barbara penned a children's book, an idea she had been contemplating for years. Having lived in the same town as her grandmother and hearing her childhood stories, it was an easy choice to write about the little red dress tradition.

Barbara is the mother of three adult children and has two granddaughters. She is a Nebraska native and still calls Lincoln home. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, baking, and reading.
