About the Book
The book is one which speaks of a constant fight with prejudices, especially financial struggles and to be able to reach where he wanted and envisioned that he dreamed of is immense in itself. Determination, perseverance, grit, and astuteness were on display through the passage of time that the book covers. Raising the bar and challenging the status quo, laying down a challenge for others in similar or same situations, the impact of an educational pursuit has been laid bare in the book. The role of education, the impact of university qualification, having a compelling doggedness to survive the arduous journey have been analyzed and discussed. Having nothing but humility for what has been achieved by virtue of pressing on even when others had spelled an ending. It encapsulates tenacity, vision, and a belief of his benefactors, who stood with him throughout and paying great reward by excelling, which makes for a story that will inspire and motivate others to keep fighting even when fear abounds.
About the Author
When a journey has been completed after much had to be done – constantly facing significant challenges that had the potential to derail the dream – the story must be told. The author of this book has been blessed with the opportunity to receive numerous scholarships, which was the catalyst to achieving many awards and academic qualifications. If those were absent, then everything would be futile. Numerous people have been charitable to him so that he could gain an education. This book describes the rugged terrain travelled and the many embarrassing situations faced, especially with regards to tuition fees and discouragement from school personnel. The author has acquired education at the tertiary level and has received an honours degree in business administration as an accounting major. He then followed his dream and completed his LLB Hons, after which he enrolled at law school to pursue his ultimate dream of becoming a barrister. This book marks the passage of time from Bethlehem Moravian College (formerly Bethlehem Teachers’ College), winning scholarships and grants along the way, until the last day of law school. He has numerous certificates of achievement under his belt, but the thing he is proudest of is the road to freedom and dignity which he pursued. The essence of all this is that the impossible was achieved, in his estimation – so much so that he has repeatedly said that if he could rewind his life, he would not put himself through such ignominy, as it was burdensome at best and disheartening at worst.
