About the Book

The Exercises in this booklet deal with errors that could be committed by students of the Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba languages of Nigeria, as well as the English language. This workbook (which is also available in an electronic version e-book) contains 20 varied exercises to test learners’ use of the languages; together with the answers to those exercises which are contained at the back of the book, for learners to verify the correctness of their own answers. This book, which can also be used as a workbook in schools, boosts understanding and skills in the areas of structuring sentences, changing tenses and choosing good words. The book also contains 200 vivid illustrations - each question is written alongside an illustration to aid the understanding of each one. It is a comprehensive and detailed aid in enhancing literacy for different age groups, from school age to mature learners, as well as those who are especially interested in learning Nigerian languages. The book is aimed at learners who already have knowledge of one or more of the languages, and who want to improve their skills in the use of them and possibly others. Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country with over 180m inhabitants. Nigerians will also likely make up a large portion of the African diaspora all over the world. This workbook is also useful for this demographic, which includes children (born to Nigerian parents) growing up outside of Nigeria. Such ones may want to improve or refresh their knowledge of these 3 Nigerian languages.

About the Author

Yinka is a retired diplomat with twenty years of experience and voluntarily retired as a minister counsellor. Yinka undertook her formal education in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom. She taught English as a lecturer in various colleges (containing both local and international students) for several years following her voluntary retirement. Yinka is also an author of several books in the areas of education as well as fact and fiction. She lives in the United Kingdom and has mixed with a lot of people from different backgrounds and cultures.
