About the Book

In Another Person’s Shoes is about a child with a disability who would benefit by being treated the same way as any able-bodied child. The book’s purpose is to show other children that even though a child with a disability may do things differently from other children, ultimately there are a lot of similarities.

About the Author

Cynthia Rose Phillipson was a young lady who treated all people equally and had a soft spot for people with physical and mental disabilities. She realized that although someone may look a little different or not be able to talk or walk, they still have feelings and want and should be treated like any other. Her now twenty-two-year-old cousin, Julie Gale, was born with Spina Bifida. Therefore, Cynthia was exposed to seeing the everyday challenges faced by her cousin. Also her good friend, Sarah Kostecki, has cerebral palsy and is unable to talk or walk. Sarah and Cynthia were the same age and always seemed to connect on a different level. It was Sarah that inspired her to write this book. Cynthia’s dream was to grow up and become an author and illustrator. She wrote this book when she was only twelve years old. Cynthia died suddenly at the age of fifteen, after collapsing at basketball practice in the fall of 2014. She was a kind, compassionate, and loving girl. Her parents, Carol (Trivoli) and Todd Phillipson would like to carry out one of her dreams by having her book published.
