About the Author
The author of this book, Penny L. Sanders, has been writing since the age of eleven and had several poems published since fourteen. Throughout the years, she had the pleasure of meeting great poets such as Gwendolyn Brooks and Maya Angelou. She has published a children’s poetry book entitled “Thoughts As A Child”. Penny has participated in the World of Poetry Convention and the International Society of Poets. In 1997, she wrote a poem for former President Clinton called “Educate Our Children” and received two letters from the White House. Penny had started a female inmate choir at the Cook County Department of Corrections and was featured on CLTV and WGN. Her choir has performed for Cardinal Francis George at Christmas mass for several years. In 2001, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and is still in remission. Penny’s many life events have inspired her writing. However, the birth of her only son inspired this book. Originally, this book was a poem written for him when he was three years old. Nevertheless, it was her dream to make this poem come to life in a book and share this with other families. God blessed her with the gift to write, and she goes to the deepest part of herself for aspiration. She is a strong woman and is an inspiration to all. Many trials have tested her faith, but she has never given up hope. It is that hope she wants to share with everyone.
