About the Book

My poems came to me by the Lord putting the words in my heart about special friends and things in my life. It is made of poems that I have written over the years. My first poem, "A Lonely Fool," was made from being at my mom's and being downhearted. I wrote it out and gave it to her. Years down the road, I realized I had a lot of poems, so I put them all together, and this poem book was made. I want to dedicate this book to my special friends: to Kevin R, for his help to do this book; to Nikki and Mona Bowles, Sharon Bowers, and Sue Ratliff; and to Jodi M, for her help.

About the Author

There is a story about how I got the nickname Butch. My brother and sister wanted to play barber and manicures, and I was the customer. When Mom got home, the walls vibrated! She gave me some money and told me to go have the barber fix it. I marched up to the barber and showed him the money, and he asked what he was to do. I told him to butch it off. He said, "What?" I said, “Butch it off.” I was only seven; what did I know? So that is what he did. I got home, Mom took one look at me, and she turned and cried. Then she gave me a pair of my brother’s pants and said, "Here, Butch, put these on and give me your dress." And she gave me one of his shirt. All that summer, Mom called me Butch.
