About the Book

Around the Table with Pattiecake and Friends is a book of Poetry. Some of it is spirituality and at times you must understand it that way. There are poems of love and letting go. I do believe in true love, yet I seen my mother, hold on to a love that left her heart broken, confused, and almost destroyed her. She held on to what she thought was true love for thirty two years, so most of the love poems are written in connection of her and the love she lost. Some of the poems are from loss of friends and family, some from spirit of suicide that I fought a long time. If you are facing this please seek out help. You do have a story to tell and there is light in your storm. I hope and pray you will be inspired by my stories, poems, and heart. After all I am a survivor with a story to tell. May God’s hand be upon you and his mercies show you kindness.

About the Author

I was born at 3:57am on Thanksgiving morning. I was the fourth and last girl for eight years and then came my baby brother. My mother and father wed young, we were poor growing up, but in return there was a lot of love shown and given. I grew up feeling like I was a no body most of the time until my daddy would walk in and brighten my days, I was a daddy’s girl. Around the age of 9 or I gave my heart to the Lord and he filled that voided place. God also sent me a young man who taught me the true meaning of love. We met on Labor, which by the way is on Monday, by Saturday we were engaged to marry. A lot of people said we would never make it and here we are almost thirty three years later and our love for each other is still present. God has blessed us with one daughter and two sons, what a blessing they are. Now through the years we have had crazy moments, like when I dress up like a bag lady and go to birthday parties, or show on their job just to emabaress them. We have also had times of sorrow and tragedy dealing with the passing of my fater and sister, as well as close friends. I have faced many battles in my life including suicide. Thank God for his mercy, I am a survivor with a story to tell. If you are in a dark storm, arise to the challenge and become a survivor and tell your story.
