When Jan left the store everything looked different. She looked at her watch. Was it really only 6pm? There is no way I could have tried on all of those outfits and everything in just 30 minutes. She turned around and the store was gone. There was only a solid wall. She looked in the bag and it was empty except for some makeup. As she looked around she saw no one. Finally a man came up to her. He grabbed hair and said are you ready? Jan was scared but was able to get out “Ready for what?” “Breeding” he said. “You’ll go to jail for rape.” Jan screamed. “Your type can’t be raped.” Confused she said “My type?” “Just because I’m dressed like this doesn’t mean I fuck.” “It has nothing to do with how you’re dressed. It has to do with-------.” He fell to the ground. Jan looked around and another man had hit him in the head with a board. “Come with me, you need to get out of here, now.” He said. He took her by the arm and they ran around the corner. She didn’t recognize anything. “My car is in the next block, come on.” Jan had kicked off her high heels but still had trouble keeping up with him. They got to his car, it looked nothing like Jan had ever seen. He opened the passenger door and she quickly got in. He got in the driver’s side and started the car. He was well dressed and looked to be in his late 40’s to early 50’s. “I’m Phil. What are you doing in that part of the city?” “I don’t know. I went to a store to buy a new outfit and when I came out everything had changed.” Jan said. “You mean to tell me you don’t remember anything.” “I remember buying some outfits and coming out of the store and that thug grabbing me and trying to rape me.” Phil just sat in silence for a few minutes. Then he said “do you have a tattoo?” “No” was the emphatic reply. “I hate to ask, but show me you right breast” “Show you what? I just tried on some dresses and there was no tattoo” “If you don’t want to show me at least look yourself” Jan turned away from Phil and pulled her top down a little. There was something there. It looked like red ink. I must have gotten against something in the dressing room. She pulled her dress apart showing her entire breast. There was a red tattoo! “Is there one there?” Phil ask “There is something there.” “Is it red and does it look like a pregnant woman with blond hair?” “Yes it does. What does it mean?” she ask in a shaky voice. “Shit, I would have to go and pick up a breeder. You don’t remember getting the tattoo?” “No, what do you mean by Breeder?” “Do you know what the date is?” “Sure Friday, June 26th, what does that have to do with anything?” “What year?” “2015 of course, why are you asking me these stupid questions?” She was scared but now was getting angry. “Because it’s Wednesday, June 26, 2211.” “Is this some kind of joke? Is someone trying to make me think I am in the Twilight Zone?” “It’s no joke and no, you are not in the Twilight Zone. This is for real. I’ll try to explain as best I can.”
