I Know Who I Am

A week later, soft whimpers escaped from Lydia as she talked to Jesus. Her heart was heavy. She knew God had changed her heart. When she looked at people, she could see how sad they were, the lost look in the kids’ eyes as they walked to class. Lydia has no doubt that she KNOWS Jesus and that others needed to smile more; but, how would she talk to them about that? Also, she was confused with how some of her friends were not acting as friendly as they used to be. Mom walked by when she heard Lydia plead through her tears, “Jesus, show me what to do!” She lifted her head up as Mom knocked on her door and walked in with a gentle smile. “Would you like me to pray with you honey?” Mom asked. Lydia nodded her head and told her mom what she had already prayed. Mom sat by her and told God, “Lord, thank you for teaching Lydia’s spirit to recognize Your voice. From the moment she awakens to the time the day is done, let her listen and obey Your voice. Give her Your vision and wisdom to know who is hungry and ready to have a relationship with You. Please send Lydia a good friend. In Jesus’ Name, amen.” Lydia lifted her head up and blew her nose. Mom encouraged her daughter, “Honey, you just keep making good choices that make Jesus happy and treat people with love. God will open doors so you can tell others about Him. Don’t give up. Beginnings are always the hardest.” “Yes ma’am. Thanks Mom.” Mom walked out the door as Lydia got up from the floor to finish getting ready for bed.
