About the Book

Faces and actions of people and animals, the flair of nature, and the subtleties of interaction, the way life arrives for me to observe and live, to hear and sense, to engage, that is what spawns my poetry. Those poems selected and chosen from my past, with a few more contemporary in their lure to me and my pencil, are drawn together in this collection as a sampler of my engagement with life. I hope you find them engaging and inviting, that you may entertain the actions of the poem as it writes itself upon your mind, creating there your own experience of life, readying for the open engagement with what life directly brings to bear upon you.

About the Author

I am a retired minister from the Christian church Disciples of Christ living in the hills of the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. During the course of my ministry, noticing that some of my work came with a special sort of cadence, I began writing poetry on purpose; that was in the early 1980s. The process and product of writing poetry have been useful and satisfying to me. In April 2004, I began a few years of fruitful attendance on the online poetry workshop, Desert Moon Review. I learned a great deal in that attendance about poetry and its reading as well as its writing. I now live in retirement with my wife of nearly forty-eight years, a pair of dogs, and a handful of cats. Four ducks have recently been added to mix.
