About the Book
“You will not find a person who cares more about the health and nutrition of everyone more than Theresa Hill. Her recipes are delicious and enjoyed by not only myself, but our viewers as well. Make as many of them as you can!” (Kathryn Ghion, reporter, WBOY 12 News) “Dr. Akkary and Akkary Surgery Center have supported Theresa Hill and her cookbooks for several years. Her passion and loving encouragement toward health and wellness is inspirational to Dr. Akkary. This passion and her first cookbook, Treenie’s Beginning, was the start of their work relationship. Theresa has been active at Akkary Surgery Center as a nutritionist teaching diet classes to Dr. Akkary’s patients since late 2015. Her style of teaching and experience with cooking creatively has inspired patients to branch out and learn new ways to incorporate herbs, greens, and other healthy presentations to their family tables. In addition to her expanding cookbook collection, Theresa has a growing nutrition business, Eat Well. Patients and community residence come to her for guidance toward fresh ideas and flavorful recipes to spice up their kitchen and life’s relationship with food. She makes appearances throughout North Central WV, sharing her experience and knowledge as a chef, a writer, and a nutritionist. These qualities and accomplishments are just a few reasons why Dr. Akkary and Akkary Surgery Center support Theresa and all of her flourishing aspirations.” (Dr. Akkary and all the staff at Akkary Surgery Center) “Theresa is a fantastic cook! She prepares nutritious meals for our family of four every week. Everything is very flavorful and very real. Nothing processed or artificial coming from her. From the fruit salad and bean dips to the marinades and frittatas she makes, we couldn’t be happier with the balanced, healthy meals she prepares. She can take just about anything and make it taste good. And the kids love it too! We can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!” (Caroline G. Labritz, DDS)
About the Author
Theresa A. Hill is an accomplished writer, speaker, health advocate, and educator who lives and works in north central West Virginia. Petite Plates is her second book as she continues to create avenues of reaching people in the region and beyond with her ideas about health, wellness, and nutrition. In addition to her books, Theresa has spoken at many local charities and other events and has appeared on numerous local television spots, promoting health and wellness. She has also had a number of articles written about her books and recipes in local newspapers and publications. Theresa graduated with a degree in dietary management from Pierpont University in 2014 when she went back to school after raising her family. As a certified dietary manager (CDM), she began a nutritional consulting business in 2015 called EatWell, LLC (www.eatwellllc.wix.com/thill) . In her consulting role, she has worked with a variety of clients to help them meet their dietary, nutritional, or weight loss needs, including her husband, Rick, who was her very first client. By following Theresa’s exercise advice and meal plan, Rick was able to lose fifty-seven pounds in eight months after struggling for nearly twenty years with his weight. Theresa also works as a personal chef for certain clients, creating weekly menus and preparing quality meals with high nutritional content for the entire family. She is most passionate about children and the poor eating habits that many of them have developed in today’s culture. She creatively finds new ways to make traditional meals so that kids can learn that eating healthy can taste good too. Theresa believes that God has given her gifts and abilities to be used in this place, at this time, for the people he places in her life. She serves with passion and gives all the glory to God.
