There once was a cat named Sunshine. His gold & yellow fur glowed in the sunlight. Sunshine was a happy, active cat. He knew all the hiding places in his home and even knew all the other cats in the neighborhood. One day, Freckles, a black and white cat, noticed a big moving van across the street. It was in front of Sunshine’s house. “Oh, no”, Freckles said aloud. “Sunshine can’t leave us. What will we do? Who will we chase? Who will give us extra food? Sunshine can’t leave us!” Freckles ran across the street and stopped suddenly when he saw Miss Jane crying. He started to purr. The little blond-haired girl had managed to say between sobs, “We can’t find Sunshine anywhere in the house. I don’t know where he could be. Momma said that we are leaving in 5 minutes with or without Sunshine. I have looked all over the house including all his hiding places. I can’t find him and I don’t want to leave him.” Freckles purred while walking around and rubbing the little girl’s legs and looked up and said. “We will find him and bring him to you. Where are you moving to?” The shocked little girl said, “Oh my, am I really hearing a cat speak to me? Cats can’t talk. Sunshine can’t talk. He meows.” “We can’t”, said Freckles. “Believe me. I did not know I could talk either. I opened my mouth to do my meow and words came out. Maybe it’s magic or maybe Sunshine is trying to tell us both something. I don’t know. ” “Jane, get in this car right now!” her mother yelled loudly. “I mean it. Come right now!” Jane bows her head, turns and slowly walks toward the car. She stops and turns back to Freckles. “Please find Sunshine and bring him back to me. I know that cats can’t read but my new address is on this paper.” She drops the paper on the ground and Freckles scoops it up so fast that her mother doesn’t see it. He runs across the street and into his home to his owner teenaged Marty.

About the Author
The author possessed a vivid imagination and loved to write from childhood through her older years. She always carried a pen and paper to jot down whatever was in her head at the time. She loved to write about what she experienced and what she did not experience. This was all interchangeable to her. She felt that her thoughts put to words would be enjoyable by all. She never considered writing down anything involving stories that children would enjoy. When her grandchildren asked her to write a story for them, she accepted the challenge without hesitation. Her grandson, Kai, loved his stuffed panda bear and was fond of his stuffed cow. Her granddaughter, Nia, requested that she write about a cat. She also liked fish. Hence the Pandas, Essie the Cow, Sunshine the Cat, and the Yellow Fish were born/lived/talked in her stories. She was overwhelmed by their enjoyment in listening to her reading these new stories. She felt that other children would enjoy and appreciate hearing and reading these same stories.
