The Snow Prince

Then giving his guest a nod, the prince turned and left the room. As the prince made his way toward his own bed chambers, he found himself feeling content. There for the first time, he slept deeply and well. Because his heart was filled with the cheerful happiness. For now, he had found a companion. No matter for how long or short a time it might be. It was a true gift his guest had given him, by the company he had provided. As the days passed, the prince showed his guest all through the castle. Though by far, his greatest treasure was the castle library. Upon showing it to the older man, he was both surprised and pleased when he discovered the old man could read. So it was, both men spent many hours passing the time reading and discussing books. All the while the harsh winter storm which had brought the traveler to the castle, slowly started to die. Until one evening the storm was gone. Leaving in its wake, a blanket of glistening velvety snow.
