Glimpses of the Past; Heritage of the Old South is an historical novel. It is a story written with true dates and events, although the characters are fictitious. The story is centered around both pre-Civil War days and during the war. It tells of the many battles fought by the North and the South, the victories and the losses. Benjamin Green, the main character, is a young man born in Hampshire County, Northern Virginia. His family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana during his childhood. He is about to embark on many events as his life unfolds before him. The story includes love of family, patriotism and tragedies. The family chose to stick together, which created a bond among family members. Benjamin finds that he is fortunate to have love and a blessed marriage, which provides him with solidarity to continue on, despite the circumstances.

About the Author
Anne R. Murray, author, writer and poet, has written multiple books within three years. Glimpses of the Past; Heritage Of the Old South, her first historical novel, tells the story of an American family during Civil War days. She hopes to continue with a sequel of the book. Born and reared in the Southeast, she has been a resident of the metro-Atlanta area all her life. She enjoys spending her time with family and friends. Much of her time is in research, writing and motivating others. Dr. Murray is a retired public schoolteacher. While teaching full-time, she earned a doctorate in education. She prides herself in her own achievements and accomplishments.
