I tell you all this because it’s important to know and respect the people you take advice from. This book is full of tried and true advice, along with some very personal anecdotes that back my advice. If you don’t have kids, watch your friends’ kids play. Kids are always happy at play. They always make time for play. Why don’t adults? What makes you happy? Do that. Today. Do you like coffee or tea? How about therapeutic massage? Pilates? Swimming? Shopping and lunch with a friend? Basketball lunches? Reading? Writing? Rithmetic? Many adults simply don’t take time to do what they love most. Many haven’t done anything for themselves in so long that they don’t know what they love any more. They’ve forgotten how to play. It’s important to do what makes you happy. And the sooner you establish a routine of doing what you love, the sooner you’ll be able to carry a new happiness into all your relationships and everything you do… namely your business. Now, let’s find out what makes you happy (I call these your Sanity Preservers), and how to insert these Sanity Preservers into your life. Discovering and Enjoying Your Sanity Preservers 1. Schedule 20 minutes of quiet time. 2. Grab a pen. 3. Set a timer for 5 minutes, and write a list of things that make — or would make — you happy. Nothing is incorrect. You may include everything from skiing the Alps to combing your daughter’s hair. Write for the entire 5 minutes. Imagine favorite people, scenes, scents, tastes, climates and sounds. Dream. Go where your mind takes you, and keep writing. 4. Organize your list by placing each item on your list onto one of 5 smaller lists:
