About the Book

Instar is a developmental stage in between the molts of some insects, generally speaking. It is the part of the metamorphosis that is often overlooked or not totally understood. As poetry, Instar talks about the concealed splendor of growing, of transformation. The process of metamorphosis is not exclusive of the insects; however, it is in them that we can perceive it as being very dramatic. This allegory comes from the fact that insects are remarkably adaptive, resilient, and strong, just like we are. Instar is the pause we are all allowed to take to breathe, to introspect, to soul search. This small collection of poems in free verse narrates the personal journey of the author in many facets, from creation and birth to death and resurrection. The messages are established with simplicity, economy of words, and candor. They may sometimes sound pedestrian. Well, as Antonio Machado said, “Walker, there’s no path. You’ll make your path by walking.” You write your story as you live. It is the beauty of finding ourselves among the others. It is the discovery of one reality. Our transformation, our metamorphosis, can be dramatically beautiful too. Instar, la etapa de desarrollo entre las mudas de algunos insectos. Es esa parte de la metamorfosis a menudo ignorada y mal entendida. En términos poéticos, Instar plasma el esplendor del crecimiento, de la transformación. Es la alegoría, la inclusión del ser humano en el dramatismo del cambio, la analogía de nuestra fuerza y resiliencia. Instar es la pausa a la que tenemos derecho, el respirar y el acto de nutrir el alma. Esta pequeña colección de poemas de verso libre narra el viaje personal del autor en facetas, como un ciclo de vida, desde la creación hasta la “muerte” y resurrección. Los mensajes se establecen con simplicidad, economía de palabra, candidez y sin la previsión de parecer peatonal. Después de todo, esto es un caminar. Como bién lo estableció Antonio Machado: “Caminante, no hay camino, se hace camino al andar.” Intar es la belleza de encontrarnos entre el resto de los seres humanos. Es el descubrir una realidad: Nuestra transformación, nuestra metamorfosis puede ser también, dramáticamente hermosa.
