About the Book
The beauty of the trees, The softness of the air, The fragrance of the grass, speaks to me. The summit of the mountains, The thunder of the sky, The rhythm of the sea, speaks to me. The faintness of the stars, The freshness of the morning, The dewdrops on the flower speaks to me. And my heart soars. These beautiful words were written by Chief Dan George, and they speak to me. This book speaks of mice at play, flowers that talk, stars whose light creates moonbeams on which we ride in our dreams. There are quirky bumblebees quarreling with fairies and even a buzzing aggravating fly. Come away with me into a storybook of rhyme where I live. Welcome to my world. Melody Hamby Goss
About the Author
Growing up in the Air Force where my dad served 30 years provided me the opportunity to see and feel life from many countries. My first encounter with an environmentalist was in France as a five year old. A very old woman watched one day as I picked some wild flowers in an abandoned graveyard. She walked over to me shaking her cane, explaining in broken English why I shouldn’t pick flowers. Taking the flowers I had already picked which were quickly drooping, she placed them beside the ones growing still bright and fragrant. “You pick them, they die! So leave them alone to make our world beautiful and fragrant…” I never forgot her message. It became the seed within my heart that was to make me an avid environmentalist, humanitarian, and animal advocate to hear, as well as listen to Mother Nature. I live in Eagle Lake Florida, along with my husband Sam. My daughter Gwendelyn Frazer, and her husband Eric live nearby. My son Matthew, his wife Tania live in Michigan.
