About the Book
This set of four short stories is created to engage, have fun, and develop further comprehensive reading, such as analytical, observational, and writing skills. The book also includes light mathematical skills. Heavy usage of common sight words is found throughout this book. The young readers are challenged in terms of rhymes, comprehension, the introductory syllable level, comparison and inference making, identification of characters and their actions (verbs), and development of vocabulary through the usage of pictures, content, and connotations. Moreover, the novice and young readers identify story parts, punctuation effects, antonyms, the negation not, homophones, and contractions and respond to multipart questions. The young readers are also encouraged to identify unfamiliar words and tasked with becoming familiar with these terms. Questions are found following each short story along with a word list at the beginning. The young readers can practice sounding out and reading additional words similar to the terms in the story to enhance word and phonemic recognition. Immersed are versatile activities to coincide with reading, making it engaging and active.
