About the Book
Here is a wonderfully illustrated, true story, which tells about a young goose who becomes separated from her family, and her ultimate rescue from the clutches of brambles and carelessly discarded fishing line.
About the Author
Michael Vaccari is a retired Middle School teacher from Newark, NJ. He lives in a motorhome and travels full- Together they have volunteered at National Wildlife Refuges, Army Corps of Engineer Environmental Education, Campgrounds, and Recreation Areas, and at State Parks around the country. This story was based on a real occurrence at the W. Scott Kerr Recreation Area, run by the Army Corps of Engineers, in Wilkesboro, NC. Gertie, shown in the photo above, was turned over to a wildlife rescue center, and when she recovered, was released back into the wild.
