About the Book
The moment your family receives a cancer diagnosis is the moment your lives will be changed forever. Rebirth of a Garden utilizes brilliant watercolors, and the analogy of your body as a garden, invaded by a cancer weed to support your family’s journey on understanding, explaining, and creating a direct correlation to the struggles and potential triumphs associated with cancer. Regardless of your age, sex or race, understanding the impact that cancer has is never easy. Through art and associations, the audience (regardless of age) will have a subtle blue-print of the journey that is chemotherapy, radiation, and healing.
About the Author
While sitting in math class during his senior year of high school, the author discovered a swollen lymph node on his neck. This discovery, the impending cancer diagnosis offstage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and the people and places that a teen with cancer would discover changed Daniel Pizzo for life. Although it was many moons ago, Mr. Pizzo, an elementary school principal in Maryland, continues to view his cancer diagnosis as a temporary yet life altering bump-in-the-road that changed his outlook on all things, and provided him a passion for working with children, families, educators, and others impacted by ‘the big C.’ Without this life changing diagnosis, the father of 4, husband, and son would never have navigated his life with a unique outlook, which can only be accredited to cancer, and the silver linings that some find within the disease.
