For me, it was do or die! You either both believed and followed the training from the Organization or leave. Leaving was not an option for me; it came with consequences. Deep inside, you feared disapproval so strong that it will make you remain in a situation for fear that you just might be wrong, and to be wrong to a JW is hell, doom, damnation. This is how I felt most of my life and even more so when I first left the faith because of fear. Then we have those who genuinely think what they have been taught is the truth, and you will be going against God if you stray, think for yourself, or ask questions. Everyone feared the wrath of God (the Organization) because they believed and have been convinced that the truth was from God through the Organization. I was taught and millions alike that our way was the right way, and you don’t question it because you believed it to be so. You are dedicated to this Organization. If it says, do not associate with the world or a disfellowshipped person, you do not because you believed it to be true. If it says do not go to college because it will pull you away from serving God, you avoided college. You believed it was correct because the Organization said so. Despite what Scripture says, if the Organization told you that only 144,000 were going to heaven and they are made up of Jehovah’s Witnesses, you believed without question. It was never that all were followers and not a leader among them. It was never that we were unintelligent, weak, uneducated people, no! They have people who joined this Organization from the “world,” with their education in many fields. Doctors, lawyers, entertainers; from all walks of life. It is the hype that sounds so good. It got my mother at a time in her life when she really needed something. It captures your attention because it is a world where you can shut out everyone else and exist only among your like-kind, far away from planet earth. It makes you feel hopeful, special, like a warm blanket has been thrown over you for protection. Well, now, didn’t Hitler do the same thing for his followers in Germany, Jim Jones in Guyana, and David Koresh in Waco? It deceives you with false hope of the new system to look forward to. People, be careful out there; there are so many cults popping up everywhere. If it is not of God, then it is not for you.

My ten year journey of how I left my religion to learn the truth of my God and His Words. My inspiration for everyone (the readers) to find themselves in the pages of this book and apply it to their journey to a one-on-one relationship with God.
About the Author
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Cynthia Robertson is better known as Jack of All Trades. She has had several businesses from seamstress, baker, realtor, a true entrepreneur, and has written many non-published writings such as poetry; this book being her first attempt at publishing. Cynthia does not label herself religious but expresses herself as a very spiritual person and has explored a few religions and their teachings. Born and raised as a Jehovah’s Witness, Cynthia decided to leave her faith. She desired to become more familiar with the teachings of other religions not accustomed to her own beliefs, to openly expand her thinking and spirituality. Her search is for the truth of what is expected for all mankind by our God, not only for a group or organization. This is what brought her to her spiritual journey, and writing this book, based on her life and her journey to God. Born and raised in Richmond, California, she is a true native but now lives in New Orleans to pursue cooking after graduating from Culinary School. In her spare time, away from her writings, you can always find Cynthia in the kitchen cooking up something tasty or on the phone talking to her many grandchildren.
