Baby Dreams

Severin reached up, up through the sky, and pulled down a pink ribbon for his mama. As he did so, he let out a great sigh. Papa picked up the little prince and turned toward home through a thick pine forest. Severin cooed happily and his tired little arm drooped it over Papa’s shoulder. As Papa carried him, the pine boughs seemed to grow taller and became lively with talking toys. In and out of the friendly pines, Severin saw his toys smiling and leaning toward him and his papa. There was a baby holding a toy gold hammer, running toward the midnight sun. And the sun was saying “Welcome my little prince to the happy land of Nod, where babies can talk and Mama’s and Papa’s sing and fill dreams… where the setting sun is a muffin top sinking below a sky of pink ribbons.”
