This book showcases the wonders of an often-neglected phenomenon – the sunrise. It explores this phenomenon over the course of two years from both her country home on the North Shore of Prince Edward Island, overlooking the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, and her city home in Halifax, Nova Scotia gazing over Halifax Harbour towards Dartmouth. In addition to the glorious display of color, the author became aware of an aspect of this phenomenon previously unknown to her and likely most people. Looking eastward, the sunrise appears to move from its most Northerly point in June to its most Southerly Point in December, and it reverses this pathway from January back to June. Of course, this has to do with the Earth’s rotation. From a multitude of photos, the author has selected some of her most spectacular ones and has arranged them in the book so that the left-hand page shows the position of the sunrise from month to month and the right-hand page has a few more glorious photos for each month.

About the Book
For this book, Dr. Oulton has chosen some of her most spectacular photos to illustrate the sun’s movement Southward from June to December and back toward the North from January to June. The book’s left-hand pages show the sun’s position on the horizon in a particular month and the right-hand pages show more fabulous sunsets from that month. Dr. Oulton hopes that others who, for one reason or another, have never fully experienced the glory of a sunrise will find as much pleasure in reading this book as she had in putting it together.

About the Author
: Having a lifelong career as a Medical Research Scientist, and not being a morning person, the Author Dr. Margaret (Margie) Oulton had not witnessed a sunrise until well into her retirement in her 80th year. She was so captivated by this amazing phenomenon she decided to explore it further. With a change in lifestyle, and strictly as an amateur, she collected over a period of two years, a fabulous array of photos reflecting its everchanging position and glorious myriad of colors. Her photos were taken from both her country home on the North shore of Prince Edward Island, overlooking the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, and her city home in Halifax, Nova Scotia, gazing eastward across the Halifax Harbour toward Dartmouth. She has chosen some of her most spectacular photos for this book and she hopes that others who, for one reason or another, have never experienced the glory of a sunrise will find as much pleasure in reading it as she had in putting it together.
