The new editor, Stephen, is equally ambitious and determined to raise the profile of the paper to that of a national daily Thomas’s exploits with the S.A.S, which are re-enacted, add spice and adventure. Unbeknownst to him, he has been followed on his journey by Glaswegian thugs who want the money which has been pouring in to his collection bucket to pay off a big drug dealer ambush Thomas, an kidnapping Hanna brother Ian. Enough money is raised for Hannah to go to London and the surgeon has agreed to operate. Before, Jodie and John can reach Thomas with the good news, he is once more pressed into service when Hanna brother is kidnapped, his life hangs by a thread. Between Thomas and Mr Larey, they manage to save Ian but, the exertion has been too much for Thomas and his final act of bravery ends in the tragedy of his death.
