About the Author

Michael Palmer was born in 1941 in New York City. For 47 years, he was a finance professor at the University of Colorado in Boulder. During that time, his publications consisted solely of academic research papers. When he retired in 2013, he continued to teach as a visiting professor in Japan, Italy and Germany. However, when the pandemic took hold in 2020 those opportunities quickly ended. Tired of watching tv reruns, his wife, Charmaine encouraged him to find something more exciting to pursue. Remembering that his father published two books when he was in his 80s, Michael decided to try his hand at writing short stories. Before he realized he had written over 100. Friends and family encouraged him to publish some of these short stories. So, in January 2023, his first book, The Last Green Flash was published. His second book, No Cappuccino in the Afternoon followed in ‘June 2023. Michael lives in Boulder, Colorado and when not writing, he and his wife enjoy traveling. His third book, Under the Marula Tree, was completed while they were spending time in Italy and Japan, and as the readier will see some of the stories in his latest book, like his two previous books, are formed from his experiences while in those counties.
