7:14 Prayer
"Thank You Jesus"
Good morning Jesus. Awake, ready to be led by Your Spirit in another day of ministry. A common question often heard is: “how do I know the way?” Most daily decisions are mundane and have little immediate impact on our lives. Granted, an accumulation of small decisions greatly determines our overall life. But to speak of major decisions like; who you marry, where you live, buying a house or car etc. A decision made that would be complicated and costly to undo.
Many years ago when facing a life altering, decision about ministry. My prayer about the decision was something like “God help me” or “God show me the way.”
All at once, a convicting spirit rolled over me. The text came to mind: “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21 NIV). There are multiple texts that speak of trusting in God’s presence and God’s leading. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV). The Spirit said: “why are you praying in anguish asking for something I promised I would do?” Ouch! From that day on praying for God to “help” me or “guide” me stopped. My daily prayers for guidance and decision making took on a whole new intensity. No longer would there be begging God to do what God said He would do.
But, in the spirit of confidence in God, the Word of God became alive concerning life decisions. Now my prayer is: “thank You Jesus for helping me” or “thank You Jesus for showing me the way.” No longer would there be anguish about a decision of turning right or left, up or down. No longer would I feel as if God was somewhere else awaiting my call for help in my decision. The simple prayer: “thank You Jesus for help or guidance” changed my life. The feelings of God’s presence and power were strong. Saints of God let us affirm what God said in Your daily prayers that you may walk in His glory. Know that God is already making a way before you know there is a need. Trust God at His Word when He said: “I will guide you and never forsake you. In Jesus Name. Amen!
