The gray sky matched the somber graveside scene. Executives that admired and respected Charles stood in a cluster, some gazing at the casket ready to be lowered into an endless path to eternity, others searched Julia’s bowed head trying to read the emotions that she struggled to hide behind her veil. The clouds formed ominous dark, gray shadows. The winds shook the overhanging branches, making eerie patterns on the neighboring gravestones. It began to rain at the close of the service. Julia took advantage of the downpour and headed directly to the waiting limousine ignoring the mob trailing behind her. Sanders steered her toward the back of the limo and entered beside her. As the driver moved forward, reporters parted clearing a path as it passed. They waved their arms trying to catch a glimpse of her sorrow. Her somber countenance would surely feed their gossip columns. Sanders hovered over her, hoping to protect her from the onslaught. He was thankful that Julia took his advice and convinced Steve to distance himself from the graveside service. His presence would have caused a sensation. Julia wiped away the rain that trickled down her black dress. It was as if she were wiping away the guilt. She realized that after all is said and done, she still loved Charles and never should have left him in the first place. "Oh Sanders! Why was I so foolish?" She sobbed uncontrollably. Sanders took her hand trying to console her. "Time Julia. Time will see you through your pain." The limo picked up speed taking Julia on a ride into a new and tangled future.

This plan put Julia in a dangerous life threatening position. She had become suspicious of everyone. When Gina approached her with the idea, Julia was so desperate to resolve the murder of her husband and chauffeur that she was willing to risk her own life to end this horrible crime spree. It was a calculated plan that would be disastrous if it failed. This time Gina had Lulu, her long time partner at the detective agency, on pins and needles wondering if this crazy scheme would work. As usual, it remained to be seen.
About the Author
Sera Flenniken’s diversified background consisted of three years training in the arts under a professional artist who studied in Germany. Ms. Flenniken painted in oil on canvas and has sold many of her works. She has two grown children. Her husband is a retired oil executive, and because of his work, the family moved to many States and lived three years in Florence, Italy. Her first non-fiction novel told of their exciting experiences living and traveling extensively throughout Europe. She then continued writing mystery novels and short stories. When she’s not writing at her computer, she is an avid golfer and loves to travel. She is currently working on a fourth novel.
