About the Book

Through my eyes Is a book about an ordinary person who has a lot of ups and downs in life, some downs lower than others but it shows the strength of character she has which helps her overcome her problems.

As a child her grandparents are fundamental in her well being and central to her life, they give her tremendous support, love and guidance. This is where her strength really lies.  She learns a great deal from them and passes her experiences on to her own daughters.

As an adult she marries and has two daughters from her first marriage which ends in divorce.  She suffers an illness in which she becomes very close to her mother. She remarries and has some dreadful experiences at the hands of her second husband who suffers a split personality disorder and he eventually takes his own life.  After which she is left traumatised and goes away for respite to gain inner strength.

A year later she realises that she can start to live again on her own.  With renewed strength she starts to enjoy life again.  Then out of the blue she finds she has to cope with losing her mother in a dreadful accident, but having met Mike she has his support and eventually becomes more settled and subsequently marries Mike. They travel extensively for holidays together and enjoy life as a couple.

There is also a brief memoir written by her mother about her life as a young school girl before the Second World War and her life as a young mother during the Second World War and life afterwards.  Also her grandmother has written a short memoir and gives an insight to life in the early 1900's.

About the Author

Through my eyes Is the author’s memoirs of early childhood through to adult life incorporating humiliation and torment from her father

She soon learns that life can be cruel. Her much loved Uncle is lost when ice breaks up in the Antarctic and she finds it hard to concentrate on her studies as she and her family anxiously await news from the Antarctic.

She is very close to her grandparents and enjoys staying with them at their home in Henley, a place which evokes happy memories throughout her life. As she grows up she uses the talents her grandmother has taught her and passes these talents on to her own daughters.

She becomes very ill and has a lengthy stay in hospital, her mother is a great strength to her at this time and looks after her daughters. She encourages her mother to move closer to her and feels it is pivotal to keep the family together.

Having married and divorced she remarries and is traumatised by the actions of her second husband and the subsequent killing of himself.  She rediscovers her inner strength by going to Cyprus by herself, when she comes home she is stronger and ends up meeting Mike who becomes her soul mate, she and Mike become husband and wife and have a peaceful life together travelling and celebrating anything and everything with their friends and family.

She has included a short memoir from her mothers writings and also one of her grandmothers written memoirs left to her on their deaths.
