Godfool

Paul Godfool entered the confession box when he heard the backdoor of the church opening. He never looked at the person approaching for that sacramen. He was aware of how difficult it was for anyone to honestly confess their failings, without the added burden of being stared at. Footsteps approached. The penitent paused for a moment outside before entering the small cubicle. The priest pulled back the small sliding door of the opening between them. The person there breathed deeply but said nothing. 

Do wish to confess?' Godfool asked gently

There was a small nervous cough. Then the formal: 'Bless me, Father, for I have sinned.' The voice was thatof his former colleague who now called himself 'Father Scapegoat''
