Melissa Balsamello, wife, mother and educator, has always loved writing stories and poems. As a teacher, she encourages students to use pets and people in their lives as motivation for their own creative expression. Born in Red Bank, New Jersey in 1975, Melissa was raised in Monmouth County and currently resides in Branchburg of Somerset County. Melissa graduated from Ocean Township High School and studied education, psychology, and dance at Douglass College and Rutgers University in New Brunswick. After receiving a Masters in Educational Psychology and Special Education from the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers, she proceeded to teach First grade, Special Education, and Movement for over 13 years. Melissa enjoys raising her daughter Emily, playing with her dachshund Louie, spending time with her husband Jason, and singing on the Zarephath Christian Church Worship Team. Melissa is available for storytelling, book signing, and creative writing workshops.
