About the Book

SIPPICON closes the mythic circle of a unique Native American and British family divided by the fiery politics of pre-Revolutionary Massachusetts. The woods, the sea, the farm, merchant ships, the church, the university, Venice, London, a Sippicon village, drawing rooms and battlefields are the stomping grounds for iconic characters reaching for independence of soul. The red man and white woman once married now suffering life apart are the catalyst for the action of the novel.

About the Author

Lois Swann, author of contemporary and historical fiction, has fulfilled the promise of her first two novels, THE MISTS OF MANITTOO and TORN COVENANTS, with SIPPICON. Her authoritative voice on eighteenth century life won her the Ohioana Library Association Award for First Novels. A Dutch Edition of that novel followed. A distinguishing feature of her historical work is her use of the Narragansett language as integral to the mythic tale. Ms. Swann, a native New Yorker, lives and works on Cape Cod.
