The Sleeping Rose

Gone is the beautiful bright redness of
your pedals.
Pedals so red,
as if dipped in the blood of lovers,
have now faded and darkened.
Your wide, full bloom has shrunken
and closed, weighting down the top
of your stem.
Green leaves that were once so full of life,
have curled and hang ever so cautiously.
Their flexibility has turned dead and brittle.
Now that you sleep,
sleep not in vain, for your intended task
has been completed.
You were picked for a mission of love,
a romantic gesture.
From one lover to another.
So as you sleep, the love you helped build,
strengthen and grow, lives on.
But do not feel sad and lonely or forgotten.
For you were there with us in life, in love
and
you will be placed upon us in death.

Two winged missiles of death
They took the tower twins down
Twisted metal and the loss of life
Combined as they fell to the ground
And yet there came another shot
Fives sides down to four
With the death toll climbing higher
These are definitely signs of war
The fourth was downed in Pennsylvania
Before it reached its goal
The courage of those passengers
Saved thousands from the final toll
From a baseball point of view
Three strikes but we’re not out
Always thinking we are safe at home
With no umpire there to shout
Killing in the name of religion
Or whatever the excuse may be
Don’t breathe your hatred on the doorstep
Of ‘My country tis of thee’
This was not an entire race
I hope that all of you know
Instead it was just a terrorist group
That dealt this deadly blow
So hand in hand we still stand strong
With freedom comes a high cost
We bow our heads in moments of silence
In memory of those we lost

Just Die Already

They said your name correctly
Pronounced it nice and loud
But it’s a funny feeling
When you’re sitting among the crowd
So you’d better start your crying
Because the coffin left without you
The cars were all lined up
Red lights they just ran through
The hole was deep and square
Exactly like your head
The funeral was complete
Except that you weren’t dead
Your son and daughter were present
They were helping each other stand
