About the Book

Be careful.  These are real experiences, real wartime battles and real encounters.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to make a parachute jump in friendly territory?  Have you wondered how it feels to parachute into enemy territory where great odds for living are against you?  And, have you considered what it’s like to be surrounded by enemy soldiers with no reserve units to help you when the going gets rough?

If you want to feel unimaginable, heart-pumping fright or to feel the heat of death, read this book.  It will take you mentally and emotionally to The Airborne School and on to the battle zone in Korea.  Then later, on to a combat jump behind enemy lines.

Reading this script chapter by chapter will give you a close encounter with the enemy in a hard “shot for shot” battle feeling.  Reading carefully, this trip might give you scared feelings as you mentally look around and see your squad friends limp and lifeless—dead.

About the Author

Delton Collins was born and reared in rural South Georgia.  At the nearby village, he attended high school until he was old enough to join the United States Army.  Following that early military tour, he re-enlisted for the United States Army Airborne Corps.  Immediately after graduating The Airborne School, he was sent to Korea.  During this assignment, Mr. Collins fought many battles and made one combat jump.  During his fifteen months tour, he received two Purple Heart awards and other commendations.  Completing this enlistment he was discharged from the 2nd Battalion, 325 Airborne Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division.

A short time later, this high school drop out graduated from two universities and re-entered the United States Army as an officer.  He was soon sent to Vietnam where he served with the101st Airborne Division.

A few years after retirement, he began writing poems and short stories.  Then he began writing “NIGHTS AND DAYS OF HELL,” a commentary reflecting his feelings and experiences about his combat jump and other battle experiences while serving with the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team.

Other books and articles he has written include Hawaii: How To Plan Your Trip, Still Waters Run Deep, The Escape Syndrome, and My Introduction to Electricity.
