About the Book

For the Poetry Compilation of William Furr, “The Years and Beyond”

The poems found in this book were written for those individuals who appreciate the Old Master’s style of poetry. Lines of verse with rhythmic rhyme, full of expressive emotions, deeply felt, soul searching, heart-rending thoughts and dreams. Readers will find themselves taken back to the poetry of yesterday.

This book of poetry should be read by those critical thinkers who will look for the meaning behind each carefully chosen word. Readers of intelligence who will recognize that choosing meaningful words to create a work of art and then make each stanza rhyme proves to be no small task.

Poetry about God, Country, Friends, Teachers, and Family will all reach out to the reader with arms open wide for all those willing to enter. These arms will beckon you to read the next line, the next poem, the next chapter, each with the promise of even more magnificently meaningful lexis.

About the Author

Poetry brings emotions to the surface. In this book you will find a wonderful selection of deeply emotional, eloquently written poetry. These beautiful rhymes and moving tenets will give the reader the opportunity to understand the real William Furr.

William has faced many challenges in his lifetime. He began life in Columbus, MS on August 6th, 1945- This date was important to William as this is also the birth date of the famous poet Alfred Lord Tennyson.

Before William was 1 year of age, he had to undergo surgery. This surgery caused complications with his breathing and William died on the operating table. The technology was not as sophisticated as it is today. However, they were able to revive William, although he was without oxygen long enough for his skin to discolor.

William also fell from a second story balcony when he was a small boy. He landed head first on a brick terrace and required medical treatment. As William grew into a young man, he began noticing problems with concentrating. Words of rhyme continued to flow through his mind. He could not stop them. As schizophrenia set in, the obsessive compulsive disorder became full blown. High school was a real challenge because of his mental health and William was only able to finish the 8th grade.

Despite all of these problems and tack of formal education, William is a master at composition. He regularly corresponds with some of the most influential people around the world. William has received personal letters from Pope John Paul, President Bush, Queen Elizabeth, Yitzhak Shamire, Hosni Morbarak, Carlos Satinas, Francois Mitterand, and many more. William has been the featured speaker at Universities and sat on many advisory boards.

He is a very versatile author who composes poetry, songs, and short stories. The Honorable G. V. "Sonny" Montgomery published William''s poem "Salute to the Heroes" in the Congressional Record.

As you lose yourself in his wandering tales, consider the mental state of the author. William continues to suffer from both schizophrenia and obsessive compulsive disorder. One wonders how someone so fraught with mental disease could concentrate enough to write exquisitely beautiful prose. Please keep this in mind as you step into his alluring words....
