The Ring of Fire
They grabbed the handle of the wagon and started hopping down the street. When the smell of smoke got stronger, Freddie said, “Let’s double hop! I think there is a fire somewhere close by!”
“Maybe it’s around the bend in the road, Freddie!”
When they reached the bend in the road, the smell of smoke became much stronger. They both started coughing.
Tanga said, “Freddie, let’s turn around and go home. We have to tell your Mommy!”
Freddie stared over to where the smoke was coming from. “Tanga, the smoke is coming from the direction where the mailbox is.”
Freddie hopped over to get a closer look at the mailbox and the letters that were painted on it. Then, he hopped back to the wagon and picked up the order form.
“Tanga! The letters on the mailbox and the order form look the same. This is the house! Now I remember!”
The next words from Freddie were, “Tanga. I remember the fire dragon that lives here. He is very old, and can hardly hop. He lives all alone! He took me into his garden to show me all of the giant vegetables and flowers he was growing to enter in the Briar Woods Fair.”

This story begins with Freddie convincing his mother that he and his pet Tanga are grown up enough to deliver a wagon full of Dragon Cadet Cub cookies.
The wagon is almost empty when they lose their sense of direction and become lost.
The suspense grows, page by page, when Freddie and Tanga find themselves face to face with a fire, raging through the woods and threatening the home and garden of an elderly fire dragon.
With no one close by to help, Freddie and Tanga are given the task to build a Ring of Fire.
Can the raging fire be brought under control?
