About the Book
In this book, Koa, The Hawaiian Poodle, is a little older and wiser but he still is high spirited and fun loving. He meets another dog named Miki Miki from a neighboring village and they become friends. Koa and Piliki are invited to visit Miki Miki's village and they eagerly go. They are greeted very warmly by the tribespeople there and they partake in a Hawaiian Wedding celebration. They also learn about the magic and mystery of the hula.
About the Author
Phyllis Rhoda Weprin, a native New Yorker, received her B.S. and M.A. Degrees from New York University . During high school and college, she performed in a great many productions including numerous children's plays. For the Arts In Action Program in White Plains, New York and the Vacation Day Camp Program in the Bronx, New York, she had the opportunity of adapting dozens of children's stories for theatrical presentation.
In 2003, she studied Archetypes in Paradise with Dr. James Wanless and Elisa Lodge on the Big Island of Hawaii where she also got to explore and enjoy the land, the sea and the history of the Island.
Phyllis currently teaches speech communication at Queensborough Community College in Queens, New York. She has always wanted to be an author of children's stories. Phyllis is a published author and an award winning poet. Koa Grows Up is her second published children's book.
