He went to a hotel he knew and had dinner, much later he came out filled to bursting point and having supped his fair share of drink, and was now basking in the warm glow of contentment. It was very dark now. The hotel was set back from the road and after coming through the revolving doors there were several sets of broad steps, before you got to the road. He had just got to the bottom, and was turning left, when he heard someone come up behind him.
"Hello Frankie," said a voice he recognized, Tommy 'the fink' Bray. This man would sell his own grandmother for the right price. A hit man; of the lowest order. Franco spun around and was sober in a second; his survival instinct had kicked in. "Myra sezs to say Hello. You've changed Franco. I hardly reconized you. I never thought to find you in Amsterdam. I've been looking all over the U.K. and couldn't find you, not even for cash money. Nobody talked. Then I popped across to Amsterdam for a break and bingo I see you in the hotel. How lucky is that?" He was pointing a thin bladed knife at Franco's stomach. "Not lucky for you," muttered Franco, "so what happens now?" "Oh I get fifty thousand quid and you get dead," and he drew back the knife and lunged at Franco, but before the words were out of his mouth, Franco turned sideways and swung his arm catching Bray a hard blow across the throat. Bray clutched at his throat coughing and the knife clatterd to the ground.Franco bent down and grabbed the knife and slit Bray's throat. He gently lowered the twitching body down onto the steps and leaned it against a post. It looked like a drunk who had fallen asleep.Franco swiftly cut off the tip of Bray's tongue and tucked it in the corpse's top pocket. When they found the body Myra and the rest of the world would know that no one puts a hit man on Franco de Angelo. Franco glanced around and could see people coming out of the hotel's revolving doors, in a couple of minutes they would find Bray. "I warned you that it was unlucky for you, you slimey little bastard," muttered Franco as he turned away and hurried back. to his hotel

About the Book
Franco de Angelo, a vicious gangland criminal, stood in the dock scowling at the jury as he was sentenced. He was pronounced guilty and the judge gave him the maximum sentence. He told Franco that he and the jury thought he was a thoroughly bad lot. Franco vowed to take revenge on every last one of the jurors. He was taken from court, but escaped on his way to jail, together with the police wagon, and disappeared. Two years later the eleven remaining jurors were killed in the space of twenty-four hours. Detectives Bland and Boyd were brought in to track him down, and prevent him from killing again. However Franco had gone back to his secret identity, and the killing had not stopped.
About the Author
The author was born in the Medway Valley in Kent and was brought up there during the war years. She still lives in Kent with her husband in the old medieval town of Faversham.She came to writing late in life after the children had left home and she had retired. She writes both for childeren and adults, and her childrens books have an element of mystery, magic and adventure. She writes for the nine year old in all of us, as she believes that we all need a litle magic and adventure in our lives.
