Mr. Sharp finally arrived at the lecture room, apologising for his delay because of a telephone call. He stood in front of the blackboard. Jim was seated in a row between Brenda and Leslie. “Well, this must be important. you people." he said. “You people” Jim hated that terminology. He stood-up, and as usual he was not afraid to voice his opinion on any subject: “We live in a democracy. We have free-speech, and I believe in using it, unless it provokes unnecessary trouble, causes anguish, pain or hurts peoples feelings,especially those less fortunate than us” he thought before he stood-up. Jim began to speak " Mr. Sharp, we have all been discussing Bob, and have all reached the same conclusion. That he is unsuitable for the job of house-father. All the women and some of the men are afraid of him, indeed some are terrified of him. They find his dogmatic attitude and weird ways extremely intimidating. Something will have to be done. We don’t like seeing anyone losing their jobs especially when they have only been in it for a short time. But, we have to live with it, and it is damaging to our nerves and that will affect our training and concentration. I apologise for being outspoken, but I speak for all the trainees and temporary employed when I say that something will have to be done.” Jim sat down.
Mr. Sharp told them that he was glad that Jim had brought it to his attention. He to was concerned about Bob’s behaviour. Some of the other trainees explained their stories of incidents and concerns regarding his attitude and dogmatic behaviour. Mr. Sharp promised them that something would be done, although it was a decision that the Principal would have to take. The girls were delighted, and Jim was their hero! “You spoke-up well, Jim” said Brenda. “Thanks for speaking-up for us” said Joyce, as she planted a big kiss on his face and patted his bum.
The young men were also delighted with this performance too, but he did not want any kisses or pats on the bum from them.
Mr. Sharp went to report on their feelings to the Principal and the Committee of Management, and the request that action be-taken. Other members of the staff were delighted with Jim and the other trainees action. They likewise were experiencing difficulties and an unpleasant atmosphere, and within a week Bob had gone and everyone as delighted. “Don’t let’s celebrate too soon. Let’s wait and see who we get as a replacement” said Jim. “Oh Jim, there can’t be another like him out there. Can there?” said Brenda.

HEAD BOY Book Two SHAKING Trilogy: Cathie has left Jimmy and her family home to live with her two unmarried sisters, and begin a new life her herself and family. Problems arise in the small flat. Cathie has another three battles to fight. Applying for a home of her own and financial support. A legal-separation and custody of her two youngest children - Jim will be fifteen and can decide his options - also her battle with breast cancer. She is also involved in decisions in the lives of her extended family, the education of her two youngest children. Thomas is infatuated by sport, especially soccer, and his obsession with one team in-particular. Jim finishes his school-days, and enters the big-wide-world, hoping to improve his education, and find employment to assist his family financially and to prove that a person disabled by cerebral palsy can achieve their potential, and have an adventurous and enjoyable life - with lots of fun and laughs in the process, but there are many obstacle to be negotiated and goals accomplished. About the Author
I was employed in mechanical engineering, and I am on the management committee of the housing association and served on sub-committees including finance, staffing and appeals. I was chairman of WestWorks Ltd. and Scotinch Services Ltd which I do voluntary to assist my community and create local employment. I attended a special school for handicapped children, and also clinics for physiotherapy. I worked at a publishers, then completed an engineering course at The National Spastics Society training centre, in completion of the course I was employed in commercial vehicle manufacturing for forty-two years. My interest are varied: local, national and international politics. Computing and video production, theatre, cinema, reading and writing. I have cerebral palsy and I am married for over thirty years with one daughter. I participated in a television programme produced in my home about tenement refurbishment, . and also featured an interview with me about my writing. I also appear on a DVD production for Community Scotland - Wider Action. My other writing pursuits are: JIMMY full-length comedy-drama screenplay A GOOD MOVE thirty minute comedy, HEATHER AND HAMISH short screenplay of children’s story - all are adaptations from my manuscript. Also “SHOULD WE STILL GO?” short play/screenplay to illustrate the diversity of my writing.
