the SHAKING trilogy 3: STILL SHAKING: Jim has settled back home with his family, and into his job in the engineering industry. Still experiencing difficulties with cerebral palsy, with his shaking hands and unsteady legs. He is determined to achieve his potential. Being non-reliant proves impossible, and he receives assistance and understanding from his work-mates in his first job since training at the National Spastic Society training centre. There is much jollity, and he joins in the fun, jokes and laughter. His fellow workers have a collection for Jim to purchase a typewriter, he can now write and people can read his writing! Jim had booked a holiday with two of his friends from the training centre, and one had to cancel. He and his friend Les set-off on vocation. Their families were worried, but they were determined to have an adventure on mainland Europe. They travelled to Ostend in Belgium, also Brussels, The Netherlands and to Paris, France on coach-tours, where they were well looked after. They experienced very funny, also frightening and dangerous situations, with their quest to get girlfriends. Auntie May and Kathleen go to the USA and Canada to visit Auntie Ellen, and experience life in the Big Apple/New York, before travelling to Canada, and visiting old Auntie Nellie in Toronto. Cathie is determined to regain her independence and gets a job as a dinner-lady.


About the Author

I was employed in mechanical engineering. I am assistant vice-chair of the management committee of the local housing association. Also Chairman of the Appeals and Staffing sub-committee. I was chairman of WestWorks Ltd. and Scotinch Services Ltd. Now I am chairman of WS Property Management which I do voluntary to assist my community and create local employment. I attended a special school for handicapped children, and also clinics for physiotherapy. I worked at a publishers, then completed an engineering course at The National Spastics Society training centre, in completion of the course I was employed in commercial vehicle manufacturing for forty-two years. My interest are varied: local, national and international politics. Computing and video production, theatre, cinema, reading and writing. I have cerebral palsy and I am married for over thirty years with one daughter. I participated in a television programme produced in my home about tenement refurbishment, . and also featured an interview with me about my writing. I also appear on a DVD production for Community Scotland - Wider Action. My other writing pursuits are: JIMMY full-length comedy-drama screenplay A GOOD MOVE thirty minute comedy, HEATHER AND HAMISH short screenplay of children’s story - all are adaptations from my manuscript. Also “SHOULD WE STILL GO?” short play/screenplay to illustrate the diversity of my writing.
