About the Book

A story of friendship, betrayal and cowardice, during the Spanish Civil War and World War 2, and a group of friends who look for their own form of justice and redress during the post war years.

About the Author

Charles Gardner was born at the end of the 1940's and raised and educated in a small village, south of Reading, in the fifties on the Hampshire, Berkshire border. He spent nearly 40 years with Lloyds Bank retiring at 56. His first novel is loosely based on his father’s life and his own time in the bank. He continues to live in the house his father built in the village.
