When the victims of the January 12, 2010 earthquake in Haiti see that the NGOs fail to use the money received from the citizens of the world to help them get medical care and to rebuild their houses, they call upon Dr. Diol Bokier, a young Haitian American who is a fraud expert, a brilliant creative writer, and an ex-police instructor to help them recover the money from the NGOs. The dying and innocent victims are shocked to realize that the NGOs are not only denying them any help, but they are also creating plagues, such as Cholera and famine, to keep them as eternal victims in order to continue collecting money on their behalf.
On the other hand, despite his spirited efforts to retrieve the money from the NGOs by persecuting them at the International Court of Justice, Dr. Bokier finds himself trapped between the selfishness of the Haitian bourgeoisie, whose goal is to steal the money; the belligerence of the newly elected president Martelly, who wants to back up the NGOs’ agenda in Haiti; the exasperation of the hungry voodoo gods, who want to zombify the quake victims so that they can serve them perpetually, and finally the interference of the American diplomats who want to exile Dr. Bokier and his crew whom they accuse of being a terrorist group. The victims are made hopeless by the idea that their unique defender may be going into exile. In his desperation to save the quake victims from this quadrilateral evil, Dr. Bokier trains the victims of Cité-Soleil, with whom he marches against the foes. To win the war, he creates a strategy that takes him to higher challenges. Dr. Bokier’s tactic, wit, and self-governing spirit make him an undefeated warrior—but will he be able to create the new Haiti that the victims have dreamed of?
Traumatized yet thrilled by Dr. Bokier’s singular heroic task, the victims are moved to act. In the midst of all the perils in the quest for success—his dual citizenship, the money taken from the NGOs, the suffering of his beloved and devoted Citésolezians—Dr. Bokier’s head is claimed by the voodoo gods who have haunted him since childhood for his resistance against their hegemony. But united with the Citésolezians, he embarks on a daring, keenly tactical and unconventional war. The victims must choose to stay in either the North or the West to discover the secrets of their nation and to explore their own dark desires for power.
Heroic, mirthful, and deeply touching, Haiti in the Lions’ Den is a tale that will fill your heart with compassion and sympathy for the victims of these circumstances and will inspire you to enter your own battle for survival and success.
